“Design has always begun with making.”
Marta Fernández — Senior Womenswear Designer
Trained in fashion design and industrial pattern cutting in Barcelona, Marta began with MF Couture. An award at the Tot Novis bridal competition led to an invitation to Pasarela Gaudí, followed by a feature in Vogue Colecciones. She later opened a bespoke atelier in London before her work in design and fashion education took her to Mexico and Hong Kong.
Today, her work spans womenswear collection design and product development, combining an international design perspective with a strong grounding in garment construction. She works from research and silhouette through fabric, fit and development, translating ideas into product with suppliers and production teams.

CURRENT WORK
WOMENSWEAR 2027
Womenswear in 2027 is shaped by four interconnected shifts in the way clothes are constructed, layered and combined.
Defined Ease builds a modular wardrobe through precise tailoring, controlled proportions and refined everyday layers. Intimate Tension brings lingerie codes into daily dressing through transparency, fluidity and protective structure. Expressive Assembly explores individuality through graphic contrast, authored print and unexpected combinations. Adaptive Volume introduces lightweight protective shapes, adjustment and controlled mobility into the urban wardrobe.
Rather than treating minimalism, sensuality, expression or utility as isolated trends, the research examines how recurring runway and material signals translate into silhouette, colour, material and product.
SELECTED EXPERIENCE
International Experience
Collection design, bespoke practice and fashion education across London, Hong Kong and Mexico.

International Design
CPI Apparel · London / Newtimes · Hong Kong
At CPI Apparel in London, I developed womenswear proposals and presented the company’s sample range to Trafaluc buyers in Arteixo. Later, as Head Designer at Newtimes in Hong Kong, I conducted trend research and design proposals for accounts including DVF and Nordstrom private labels, working with internal teams to interpret each brand’s identity.

Bespoke & Construction
London / Hong Kong
Running my London atelier meant working directly with clients, developing garments through pattern cutting, individual fittings and finishing. I later worked in made-to-measure menswear in Hong Kong, focusing on construction, fit and technical development. That close understanding of how clothing is made continues to inform my approach to collection design.

Fashion Education
Raffles Hong Kong / CEDIM Mexico
At Raffles in Hong Kong and CEDIM in Mexico, I taught fashion design, pattern development and garment construction. I guided students through research, silhouette development and the translation of ideas into garments, helping them connect creative decisions with proportion, fabric behaviour and fit.

MF • SEA — Swimwear Design & Development
I developed MF • SEA’s swimwear collections from initial concept through to production, combining collection design, fabric selection and fit development with direct supplier collaboration. The range brings together sculpted one-pieces and coordinated separates, using panel placement, colour and print to connect the collection and create mix-and-match options.
